We’ve had an exciting Christmas Eve. Mira has a bad croupy cold, so that has curtailed our plans somewhat, but we have soildiered on. Kate went out this morning to do our last minute food shopping for tomorrow. Then after that she and Xander went out for coffee (which Xander had wanted to do yesterday) to just talk and hang out, which they both enjoyed. I stayed here with Mira and we had a good time enjoying Max and Ruby together.

Our traditional sushi outing got curtailed a bit. We had sushi in instead. We’re planning to do our big sushi outing later, once Mira is feeling better. She was up for going out and looking at Christmas lights though, which was enoyed by all.

After that, we came back home and the kids opened up two presents each. One “normal” present, and then a special one which contained new PJs for each of them, which they were very excited to run upstairs and get into. (Good thinking, Mommy!)

They are alseep by now (I hope) and we are just about done getting things ready for tomorrow.

Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope you’ve had as enjoyable a Christmas Eve as we have.

Merry Christmas everyone!

My group woke up around 8am and we were ready and downstairs by 8:30 to start opening presents. The kids were quite happy with the stuff that was waiting for them. Xander got the guitar he’s been obsessing about and Mira got the play house that she has been wanting. We opened a couple of rounds of presents and then paused to have some country ham biscuits for breakfast. Then we got back to the presents and finished up around 11:30am. We all are quite happy with the things we received from our loved ones. Most of all, Kate and I enjoyed watching the kids faces as they opened each of their presents. It’s been a great morning and it looks to be a busy and happy afternoon as well.

Well, Thanksgiving didn’t go as planned this year. Between Kate and me being sick over the last few weeks, we didn’t end up going on our normal family trips this year. We were sad to not be able to go, but we still managed to have a good time here at home.

We ran out this morning and got some food. We had a turkey dinner for lunch, and I made meat loaf for supper, both of which were very good. It wasn’t the spread we’d have seen at my parents, but it was still very nice.

Most importantly, we were together and able to enjoy each others company. We have a lot to be thankful for, the greatest of which is each other.
