Yesterday we got back from an awesome first summer vacation. First we went to Clinton, and then to the Beach to spend 6 days enjoying the sun and the water. The kids had a wonderful time swimming and fishing! Then we headed off to Charlotte on Friday for a big meet up of the whole family. It was a great time also! It was capped off with a Charlotte Knights baseball game Saturday night (The Knights beat the Durham Bulls 11 to 2). That evening was again capped off with an amazing fireworks display at the ball park! X loved the game and we are planning on going to some Frederick Keys games now over the rest of the summer. Both kids (and everyone else there) were amazed by the incredible fireworks display! They’d never seen fireworks from so close up before and it was a joy to be able to watch them enjoying them. Yesterday was the long trip home, but it was well worth all the driving we’ve done (over 1000 miles since the 25th). We had a wonderful time both alone and seeing the rest of my side of the family.

Xander has turned 9. He says he had a great day, which is what we tried to give him. We got up and had the breakfast that he wanted. Then we opened up his presents. Lots of Legos this year, which he’s really into right now. He spent some time building them before we went off to My Gym. The kids had a good time there and then we went to Ruby Tuesday for lunch. After we got him he had a good time working on his Legos and playing some Super Mario Galaxy. I made him meat loaf with mashed potatoes and peas for dinner, and that seemed to have turned out well. He was just so happy all day that I couldn’t help but enjoy the day with him. It has been an amazing 9 years.

We’ve had an exciting Christmas Eve. Mira has a bad croupy cold, so that has curtailed our plans somewhat, but we have soildiered on. Kate went out this morning to do our last minute food shopping for tomorrow. Then after that she and Xander went out for coffee (which Xander had wanted to do yesterday) to just talk and hang out, which they both enjoyed. I stayed here with Mira and we had a good time enjoying Max and Ruby together.

Our traditional sushi outing got curtailed a bit. We had sushi in instead. We’re planning to do our big sushi outing later, once Mira is feeling better. She was up for going out and looking at Christmas lights though, which was enoyed by all.

After that, we came back home and the kids opened up two presents each. One “normal” present, and then a special one which contained new PJs for each of them, which they were very excited to run upstairs and get into. (Good thinking, Mommy!)

They are alseep by now (I hope) and we are just about done getting things ready for tomorrow.

Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope you’ve had as enjoyable a Christmas Eve as we have.

We are back home safe and sound now. It has been a great week. Thanksgiving day was beautiful in Clinton. The weather Thursday and Friday was amazing. We got lots of time for all the kids to enjoy various activities outside. One of the most fun new things for Xander and Mira was playing on the hay bales on the edges on the farm. They had a lot of fun with that as well as go-kart and barbie car riding, golf, general running around, Wii playing (that was inside of course) and just having a general good time with the cousins. They got an extra treat on Friday when JPa took everyone up for airplane rides! The trip home today went smoothly, no major traffic problems and the weather was fine for it. We may be getting snow tomorrow though! It was a wondeful vacaction and we are looking forward to some time tomorrow to wind down from it.

Xander and I will no doubt get quite a bit of enjoyment out of this release. Kingdom Hearts is one of our favorite series.

He’s started in on Final Fantasy now too. He’s currently working his way through Final Fantasy IV on his DS and seems the be enjoying it a lot.

The kids seems to have both had a good day at school today. They are their ususal talkative selves about it, so details are few. Xander did admit to getting a lesson today and having done several works. Mira said she did a couple of works today as well. They got to eat lunch together, which they’ve been looking forward too, even though they’ve done it every day all summer as well. They are both tired, though Mira more so than Xander, it would appear. From what we could get out of them though, it sounds like it was a good start to the school year.
