Terminator

See, Sarah Connor Chronicles was supposed to suck.  I’d already written it off as a pointless show that would die a quick death.  Then the writers strike hit, and Kate and I decided we’d give it a shot.  It turns out, it’s great!  Who would have guessed.  I’ve only seen three episodes so far and [...]

Good Eats!

Good Eats! We ordered the first 12 volumes of Good Eats recently and they arrived last night! Good Eats is one of our favorite shows and we’ve watched it for years and years. Alton does such a good job of explaining food in a way a nerd like me can understand and enjoy. He doesn’t [...]

HDTV!

by @ Friday, August 17th, 2007. Filed under Family, Television

So we headed off to CosoCo this afternoon and came home with our new television! It’s a Vizio VU42LF LCD 1080p. The XBox 360 looks awesome on it! Standard Def television leaves a little something to be desired, but after 30 minutes or so of watching it, we didn’t mind it at all. Shrek looked [...]

Heroes Returns!

by @ Tuesday, April 24th, 2007. Filed under Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Television

Heroes returned last night! It hit the ground running. It really is my favorite show at the moment. My only hope is that it doesn’t suffer from the same problems that Lost has in its later seasons, not being able to sustain the parts of the show that made it so amazing. I still watch [...]

Xander’s First Doctor Who

by @ Saturday, April 14th, 2007. Filed under Family, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Television

Xander got to watch his first episode of Doctor Who today! We watched Destiny of the Daleks together this afternoon. Xander loved it. Mira wasn’t as impressed and wandered in and out of the room several times. Xander was engrossed. At least after the boring parts were over with. That series starts out a bit [...]

Stargate’s Back!

by @ Friday, April 13th, 2007. Filed under Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Television

The planets have finally come into alignment. Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis are back tonight. I’ll be sorry to see the final episodes of SG-1 roll around, but at least there are 2 more movies scheduled for that. It’s been a great, fun series and we’ll miss it when it is gone. Now, if April 23rd [...]

Lost Secrets

by @ Friday, September 15th, 2006. Filed under Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Television

Over the summer, ABC has been spooning out secrets about Lost. Apparently the spooning is over. Someone has posted the completed video on YouTube.

Battlestar Galatica Spin-off

by @ Wednesday, April 26th, 2006. Filed under Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Television

Today Sci Fi announced a spin-off of Battlestar Galatica. It’s called Caprica and would focus on that world 50 years before Battlestar Galatica. It looks like it will feature the creation of the Cylons. My family loves Battlestar Galatica, even my Mom and Dad watch it, so I’m very excited about this show as well.

NASCAR Television Deal

by @ Wednesday, December 7th, 2005. Filed under NASCAR, Sports, Television

Starting in 2007, NASCAR television rights will be split between ABC/ESPN,TNT, and FOX/FX/Speed. This deal lasts through 2014. Whew. ABC (or rather Disney) owns a lot of channels, so I expect the content to get spread around quite a bit. Looks like FOX keeps the first part of the Season, and then ABC/ESPN and TNT [...]

New and Improved Cookie Monster

by @ Tuesday, April 19th, 2005. Filed under Personal, Television

I’m very proud of Sesame Street for updating Cookie Monster to help kids understand healthy food. I know a lot of people are upset that the are messing with their childhood memories, but what’s really more important here, child hood memories, or the health of our children. Cookie now treats a cookie as a “sometimes [...]

Point Pleasant Pulled

by @ Thursday, March 24th, 2005. Filed under Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Television

Point Pleasant has been officially pulled by Fox. I do wish they’d at least let a show finish a season before they pull it. It’s like they try to punish the people who do bother to watch the stuff they come up with.

Good News/Bad News

by @ Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005. Filed under Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Television

Good news: Fox is going to show the last 6 episodes of Tru Calling that they made before they cancelled it. Bad News: They are pulling Point Pleasant to do it. We can’t seem to win for losing with that network.

No B5 Movie

by @ Saturday, February 26th, 2005. Filed under Movies, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Television

There isn’t going to be a B5 movie at this point after all. Pretty sad, and I’m sorry it’s not going to happen. It would have been nice to have something on at the movies I might think was worth watching. At least we are still going to the get Firefly movie.

Loonatics

by @ Friday, February 18th, 2005. Filed under Television

This is just wrong. WB is “updating” the Looney Tunes characters. And by that, I mean making them into a team of futuristic super heroes. I can’t even begin to describe how wrong this seems to me.

Johnny Carson

by @ Sunday, January 23rd, 2005. Filed under Personal, Television

Johnny Carson died today. I grew up looking forward to the chances I got to stay up late and watch The Tonight Show. He was one of the funniest people I’d ever heard. Once he quit, late night TV never really recovered. I’m truly sorry to hear he is gone.
