Old Style Baseball

Today I found (via Digg) a video someone made (scroll down a bit there to get to the video) that syncs up the audio from Game 6 of the 1986 World Series with video from RBI Baseball.

It’s quite impressive. I played RBI Baseball quite a bit when I was a kid, so this was an intresting bit of nostalgia as well.

I’ve not mentioned it, but The O’s have been above .500 for most of the season so far. They’ve even spent time in first place.

As of now the standings for the AL East have the O’s just 1.5 games out of first.

It’s nice watching us win some for a change.

Playing Baseball

Xander and I had a great time this afternoon playing some baseball. He got a tee ball set for his birthday. It was a beautiful day today, so I left work a little bit early so we could go out and play.

He did a wonderful job. He listened to everything that I said to him and then did a great job of doing what I had asked. He was so proud of himself as he managed to hit the ball a little farther every few tries. I was very proud of him too.

I Can’t Belive the Red Sox Lost

I think this comment, on SlashDot of all places, sums up how I feel about the outcome of the game last night.

The Red Sox should have pulled Martinez and brought in Embree. I even said so while Grady Little was standing on the mound, so it’s not monday morning quaterbacking. Maybe they’ll learn the lesson and use the whole team to win games next year.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a huge Red Sox fan, but I really wanted at least one of the cursed teams to make it this year and since the Cubs managed to keep themselves out, my hopes hinged on the Red Sox. Oh well, maybe the Marlins will at least be able to beat the Yankees.

Cal Ripken to Retire

Cal Ripken has announced that he is going to retire at the end of the 2001 season. I, for one, will miss him, but I’m glad that he’s leaving the game just like he’s always played it, with style and class.
