The Clone Wars
by @ 3:13 pm.

I took Xander to see Clone Wars today.  We both had a great time.  I’d heard a lot of bad things about the movie, but we both enjoyed it.  It’s possible that the fact that I’d heard bad reviews lowered my expectations enough that I was happy with what I saw, I don’t know.  More importantly though, Xander had a great time, and I had a great time seeing him have a great time.  I’m really enjoying how much he is enjoying Star Wars these days.

Terminator
by @ 10:21 pm.

See, Sarah Connor Chronicles was supposed to suck.  I’d already written it off as a pointless show that would die a quick death.  Then the writers strike hit, and Kate and I decided we’d give it a shot.  It turns out, it’s great!  Who would have guessed.  I’ve only seen three episodes so far and there are apparently 9 total.  Overall, the writing is very good.  The characters have depth to them, and they do seem to have put some thought into things.  I don’t want to post spoilers, but I was very happy with the way they handled the problems the third movie introduces into the premise.  It has all the makings of a good long term show, so I’m sure Fox will be canceling it as soon as they can.

Books Acquired
by @ 1:45 am.

Kate just got home with our Harry Potter books. We’ve decided to start on them first thing in the morning when our minds are a bit fresher.

Harry Potter
by @ 9:02 am.

Well, I finished my reread of the first 6 Harry Potter books last night. So now I’m just waiting for Midnight Saturday morning when we’ll get our hands on book 7. In the meantime, I’m pretty much avoiding as much Internet and television as I can in an attempt to not be spoiled on what happens. I got spoiled on book 6 from people maliciously posting spoilers for reasons I can’t quite understand. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a problem with people posting spoilers, I even read spoilers about some things sometimes. My problem is when people post them in an attempt to spoil people who don’t want to be spoiled. They should be well labeled as spoilers and not reveal anything unless you want the information.

In any case, I’m avoiding things like Digg and Slashdot till I’m done with the book, and I’m also avoiding mainstream news sites and television that wasn’t TiVoed before this week.

Kate is going to a Midnight launch party Friday night, so she’ll bring our copies (yes copies, you don’t expect one of use to wait for the other to finish do you?) of the book home after that and we can get started. Focused reading time will ensue. We’ll be letting the kids watch a lot more TV and play more video games than we normally would, we suspect, in an attempt to get through the book before we have to emerge into the real world on Monday. It should be pretty intense.

It’s been a long ride. I have to admit to being a little bit nervous about it ending. So many long series have disappointed me in the end, I just hope it doesn’t happen with this one.

Heroes Returns!
by @ 9:43 am.

Heroes returned last night! It hit the ground running. It really is my favorite show at the moment. My only hope is that it doesn’t suffer from the same problems that Lost has in its later seasons, not being able to sustain the parts of the show that made it so amazing. I still watch Lost, but we tend to get several weeks behind and then catch back up. Heroes we start watching 15 to 30 minutes after it starts, just long enough to be able to skip the commercials.

In any case, the episode last night was awesome. I’ll stay spoiler free though. If you aren’t watching Heroes and like good, smart Sci-Fi, I’d recommend heading over to the website where you can watch all the old episodes online to get caught up.

HeroesWiki is an awesome resource for the show as well.

Xander’s First Doctor Who
by @ 9:01 pm.

Xander got to watch his first episode of Doctor Who today!

We watched Destiny of the Daleks together this afternoon. Xander loved it. Mira wasn’t as impressed and wandered in and out of the room several times. Xander was engrossed. At least after the boring parts were over with. That series starts out a bit slow, but once the Daleks showed up, Xander loved it.

Stargate’s Back!
by @ 10:47 am.

The planets have finally come into alignment.

Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis are back tonight. I’ll be sorry to see the final episodes of SG-1 roll around, but at least there are 2 more movies scheduled for that. It’s been a great, fun series and we’ll miss it when it is gone.

Now, if April 23rd will just get here so Heroes will be back, then all will be right with the TV world.

by @ 8:16 am.

Over the summer, ABC has been spooning out secrets about Lost. Apparently the spooning is over. Someone has posted the completed video on YouTube.

Battlestar Galatica Spin-off
by @ 5:09 pm.

Today Sci Fi announced a spin-off of Battlestar Galatica. It’s called Caprica and would focus on that world 50 years before Battlestar Galatica. It looks like it will feature the creation of the Cylons.

My family loves Battlestar Galatica, even my Mom and Dad watch it, so I’m very excited about this show as well.

Serenity
by @ 8:45 pm.

Kate and I got to see Serenity tonight. It was amazing. I’m so sorry that show didn’t get to play out the way he had planned. The movie did a great job of giving a sense of closure to everything. We are looking forward to the DVD coming out so we can watch it over a few times to catch things we missed.

Harry Potter
by @ 9:34 pm.

Kate picked us up two copies of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince today. I finished rereading Order of the Phoenix this afternoon, and I’ve started in on the new one. Kate is well ahead of me, she finished rereading V last night.
