We started the morning having the fish the kids caught yesterday for breakfast. Then it was time to pack up and head home. It was a long day in the car, but the kids did a great job with it. We’ve all had a great time, but it’s wonderful to be back home again.
Mira turned 5 today. We had an awesome day at the beach for her party. In the morning, her uncle took her and her brother and cousins out fishing. Mira caught a baby shark! Xander caught a bluefish! We spent the rest of the morning playing out in the sound. Then we came in and had lunch and had some time indoors to rest up and get out of the sun for a while. In the afternoon we had one last marathon session out in the sound. Then for we had a birthday dinner made up of boiled shrimp, corn on the cob, baked beans, and bean dip. Then we had birthday cake and Mira opened the presents from this half of the family.
Mira had a wonderful birthday, and so Kate and I had a wonderful day too! Mira got to have her “birthday at the beach, with my cousins, and shrimp” that she’d been asking for since February. It was a wonderful day that will be long remembered!
We had a wonderful time with Kate’s parents. We all met up (that’s Kate and me, her parents, and my parents with the kids) around noon and all went out for lunch together, which was a lot of fun. My parents headed back to Clinton after that. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon with Kate’s parents. We took the kids out to a park till the weather starting threatning rain. Then we spent some time in a Barnes & Noble and got some nice haul of new books for all of us to read. We then had dinner at Rockfish Grill, which was excellent. We got the kids in bed and I stayed with them while Kate had some extra time with her parents.
We met up again Sunday morning and had a light breakfast. Then we hung out in the rooms and visited till around 11am. We went out for lunch at Red Robin and then went out seperate ways.
It was great to get both sides of the family in one place. The kids thought it was amazing! We all had a great time.
We headed back to Clinton yesterday afternoon and the four of us will be heading to the beach this afternoon to spend the week there. Various family will drop by, but it’ll be fun to have some time there by ourselves as well. We’ve not done that very often, since we usually are trying so hard to spend a lot of time visiting. We’re looking forward to a fun week.
Kate and I made our way down to the Triangle area today. We are going to be meeting the kids here tomorrow and seeing Kate’s parents for the weekend. Then we’ll head back to Clinton and then the beach. We had a leisurly day getting ready to go. We weren’t in a hurry, so we just took our time. We went out for a nice lunch and ran some errands before getting home and packing up. We ran into a lot of traffic on the way down, since we left too near rush hour, but we still had a great time together. We got in a little after 10pm.
So today, Kate and I went and had dinner at GG Cafe. It’s a little Italian place in downtown Leesburg, and it was excellent. It’s a small place, in one of the old buildings downtown. The inside was very nice though. The restaurant is upstairs, and has windows which look out over downtown. The food was excellent. It will likely become a regular place for us to visit. While we were there, we found out they even do delivery! If you are looking for a small local place to eat, I definetly recommend GG Cafe.
Downloaded and installed Firefox 3.0 today. It certainly seems snappier that the previous version, but that could just be wishful thinking. I’ll give more reports after I’ve had more time to play with it.
My brother and his wife were celebrating their 25th anniversary this weekend. They were having a pig picking at the beach. We loaded up on Friday and headed down for the party on Saturday. We had a great time. The food was excellent! We had a great time playing in the water with all the kids that were there, and hanging out and talking with all the friends and family. It was a truly wonderful time. This afternoon, Kate and I packed up and headed back home. The kids are going to spend the week down at my parents, and we’ll head back down to get them this weekend. We talked to the kids a little bit ago, and they sound like they are having a great time!
It was the kids last day of school today. They both had a great day. There were treats and snacks and playing outside with various forms of water. Mira’s class played with sponges doing different games with them and getting totally soaked. Xander’s class took a more traditional water gun fight approach to soaking themselves. We all went together to do the final pick up. After all the goodbyes were said we went out for ice cream at Cold Stone. After than we went out for sushi! Then we came home and played some Guitar Hero III until it was bedtime.
We all had a wonderful day. The kids have had a great year at school, and we couldn’t be prouder of them. Now we’re looking forward to a fun Summer!
I took the day off from work today to chaparone Xander’s class at the National Zoo. Kate did the same thing for Mira’s class. We had a great day! It was a lot of fun seeing the animals, and even more fun seeing the kids seeing the animals. We had a great day and I’m glad I got to go.
