So the kids had one last day out of school today for Spring Break, so I went ahead and took the day off from work. We didn’t do anything particularly special, we just enjoyed having another day together. We got the Dancing With The Stars from last week watched, and Xander and I spent some time playing Super Mario Galaxy while Mira watched. We just had a great time being together and playing before things get back to normal again tomorrow. It was a vacation day well spent.
We’ve had a nice Easter so far today. The kids let us sleep in a little bit this morning. Then we came downstairs and they enjoyed going through their Easter baskets. Then Kate and I went outside and hid plastic Easter eggs for the kids to find. They had a wonderful time running around the yard searching for them.
While the kids enjoyed their loot, Kate and I got our new entertainment center put together and all the stuff moved over to it. We’ve finally got everything hooked up to the HDTV now. Now we are getting ready to enjoy a nice Easter dinner and a lazy day for the rest of the afternoon and evening.
We just walked in from picking up Xander from my parents. He seems to have had a great time. Such a great time that he slept half the way home! I’m glad he had so much fun, but I’m even happier to have him back home with us again.
Just wishing you all a happy Spring. Sadly, we didn’t get as much snow as I’d have liked this year, and it seems unlikely we’ll get any more at this point, but you never know. I’m looking forward to having Xander back home with us this weekend, but I’ve also enjoyed having some personal time with just Mira.
Mira gave herself her first self administered hair cut tonight. She came down stairs and Kate noticed her hair looked… different. Kate went up stairs and found two things in Mira’s room. Mira’s scissors, and Mira’s hair. She apparently was trying to keep it out of her eyes, and things got out of hand. She was trying to tell us about it, but we were on the phone at the time, so we noticed it on our own when she came downstairs. She got a little upset when we asked her about it, but we assured her that we weren’t mad, but that she should let us know in the future if she wants a haircut. Kate is going to take her to get it cut tomorrow, and it appears it is going to have to be cut pretty short to even things out.
So I took Xander down to our meet point with my parents today to drop him off with them. They called a few minutes ago (and I just walked in the door) to say they had made it back to Clinton and Xander is already out riding the go-cart. He’ll be there for most of the week. Mira has been sick the past few days, and elected to stay home with us, since she still wasn’t feeling well. I’m proud of both of them, actually. Xander, for being able to go on a trip like this all by himself, and Mira for being able to decide to not go on it even though it meant a week without her brother.
Xander woke up this morning to announce that he’d pulled out his fifth tooth! It had been loose for a while. This morning he woke up and tested it and he said it bent all the way down. He just yanked out it and it came right out! Unlike the last few teeth, we managed to keep track of this one though!
I’m a bit jealous that we don’t get this around here. I would love to get my hands on some Coke made with cane sugar! Everyone I’ve ever heard talk about it has said it is much better than the high fructose corn syrup kind we are used to.
Gamespot has up a preview for NASCAR 09, which looks fairly encouraging. I’ve skipped the last few versions, since they didn’t offer much of an improvement over the version I own. This one looks like it might be a nice graphics upgrade, as well as some interesting game play.
