See, Sarah Connor Chronicles was supposed to suck. I’d already written it off as a pointless show that would die a quick death. Then the writers strike hit, and Kate and I decided we’d give it a shot. It turns out, it’s great! Who would have guessed. I’ve only seen three episodes so far and there are apparently 9 total. Overall, the writing is very good. The characters have depth to them, and they do seem to have put some thought into things. I don’t want to post spoilers, but I was very happy with the way they handled the problems the third movie introduces into the premise. It has all the makings of a good long term show, so I’m sure Fox will be canceling it as soon as they can.
This is just amazing, and this is a guy doing it in his home using the Wii and his PC. I can’t imagine it will be much longer before game developers start doing something like this.
I finally managed to get 5 stars on all the songs for Guitar Hero 3 on Medium. Knight of Cydonia and Raining Blood were the two that took me a lot of practice before I could do them. That’s done now and I’ve moved on to playing through career on Hard. I made it through the first stage already, but boy is my hand tired. Not all 5 stars of course, at this point, I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to manage that. I guess it’s just a matter of practice though.
I picked Xander up from school today, and when we got home all four of us had a great time having a snowball fight while there was still snow on the ground. It was one of those moments with your kids that you know you’ll never forget.
Xander just noticed that he’s lost his third tooth! It’s nowhere to be found, so we suspect it came out while he was sledding. It’s been loose for a good long while now, and it had really loosened up in the past few days. It’s not a real shock that it would fall out while he was doing something as active as sledding.
We went out for our second round of shoveling around 4pm. The snow has mostly turned over into sleet now.
After we were done with the shoveling, the kids both decided to sled this time. They both had a great time. Mira got braver and braver as she tried it and watched her brother. Kate and I had a great time watching them. By the end, Mira was doing everything solo, I wasn’t even holding the sled for her while she got in.
It started snowing around 9:30am and hasn’t let up much. It’s coming down pretty hard at the moment. I’m just back inside from shoveling and watching the kids play in the snow. Xander had fun sledding and Mira had fun helping us build a snow man. I’ve been fighting a migraine the last few days, so I wasn’t as active as I might have been in the playing, but we still had a good time. We’re up to about 3 1/2 inches so far.
I found out today that I’ve been promoted (or as I explained it to Xander, I leveled up). I’m now a Principle Software Engineer. It’s something I’ve been working for for a long time and it feels great to finally have all the hard work validated.
