Mira’s 4th Birthday
by @ 7:53 pm.

Mira had a nice birthday today.  This morning we went out to play some minigolf, which she’s been excited about for a while.  It was oppressively hot today though, so she kind of tuckered out on it about half way through.  Xander finished up for both of them though, and they did have a good time.  After that we went off to Red Robin for lunch, which Mira was also very excited about.  Mostly she was excited about getting her sundae and having them sing to her.  After that we took a trip to the toy store so Mira could spend some of the birthday money she’d received.  Then we came home and opened the presents we had gotten her.  The rest of the afternoon was spent enjoying said loot.  She was very excited and happy all day and seems to have had a good time.

A Big Surprise
by @ 6:36 pm.

We went out to Tyson’s Corner mall today because the new Lush store was opening there and Kate wanted to visit it, so we made a trip out of it.

It turns out it was good we all went! We decided to make the return trip on Route 7. We were sitting at a stoplight by a Sunoco gas station. Xander is looking around and he says, “Hey, that’s Kyle Bush’s car!” I turn my head expecting to see a picture up in the window of the gas station or something, but to my surprise, I see a 5 car sitting there.

We pulled into the gas station and went and checked things out. It was the last hour of the last day that the car was going to be there. The man with the car was a real Hendrick employee too, not just some guy hired to take the car around. He had a Daytona 500 ring and everything. He was very nice and was willing to show the ring to Xander and talk about it a little bit. The kids both had a great time looking at the car (and Kate and I did also) and it was a really nice surprise.

Mira’s 4th Birthday Party
by @ 9:25 pm.

We had Mira’s birthday party today. He birthday isn’t for another week and a half, but this was the best day we could find to have the party. We had the party at Baby Ballerina. Mira had a great time at her “princess party”. She and her girl friends got to dress up like princesses and the boys got to dress up light knights and kings and wizards. They had a fun time dancing around and playing. Xander even got to dress up as a dragon for the knight to defend the princesses against. Then we had pizza and cake and then some free play time before everyone left. All the kids seemed to have had a very good time. Mira was thrilled to finally get her princess party. She had been looking forward to it for months.

Walk Around the Sun
by @ 9:42 pm.

Mira got to have her first “Walk Around the Sun” today at school.  In her class, they celebrate birthdays by having a walk around the sun for each year of their lives, and then they talk a little bit about that year.  Mira had gotten to see Xander’s last year and again this year, and was very excited about getting to do her own today.  Today was the day we picked to celebrate her birthday at school since she has a Summer birthday.

She enjoyed getting to do her walk and was very happy that her brother, Kate and I were all able to be there for it.  We enjoyed it as well.  She decided on bringing in blueberry muffins and strawberries as a snack for her class, and those went over very well also.

My Accent

Southern
People used to hate Southern accents but now everyone wants one.

The King and I
by @ 10:13 pm.

Xander had his school play tonight, The Kind and I.  This was actually the second performance.  The first was for the school yesterday morning.  Xander chose to do the lights for the play this year.  He’s just like his Mom and Dad I guess.  We both tended toward backstage work in our theater experiences also.  The play was very good, and the lights of course, were wonderful.
