Mira’s First Circus (Xander’s Second)
by @ 10:12 pm.

Every year, AOL has a night at Big Apple Circus when they come to town. This was the night this year. Last year we decided that Mira wasn’t old enough yet, but this year we decided she was ready. The four of us went this year and we had a great time.

We got there about 6pm, which is when the gates opened. The show itself started around 7pm.
They had dogs and horses again this year. They had a Chinese acrobatics troupe this year which did two great acts. They had a lot of other good acts as well, jugglers, trapeze, clowns, and one guy who did tricks on his bicycle and other audience stuff that was very funny.

Mira had a little problem with the noise at first, and any time there was an act that didn’t interest her, she’d start asking to go home. On the whole though, she enjoyed it. One of the highlights for Mira was the bus ride from the parking lot to where the actual tent is set up. She loved getting to ride not in a boster seat for a change.
Xander loved the whole thing. He enoyed the acts, and he also appreciates the specialness of it and the fun of getting to stay up late.

The show ended around 9:15pm, and we made it home around 10pm.

They are both very tired now, as are we. They are already tucked into bed, as I suspect asleep at this point.

WRGPT
by @ 6:56 am.

Once again, I’m registered for the WRGPT Email Poker Tournament. No real money, just a lot of fun. I’ve played it for quite a few years now and I always look forward to it starting up. Last year I finished 450th out of 1286. Maybe I can improve on that this year.

New Refrigerator
by @ 7:33 pm.

New RefrigeratorWe got our new refrigerator today. Kate had been wanting one for quite a while, and we finally got it. It’s black, so it matches the rest of the kitchen now. It’s also quite a bit bigger. It’s a side by side, which is what Kate always wanted, and has the ice and water in the door, which is new for us as well. Kate is very happy to have it.  I am too, now that you mention it.  It’s a nice improvement to the kitchen.

Fun Day
by @ 9:35 pm.

We didn’t get to see the aerobatics because of the weather, there were too many clouds for them to fly.  We did have a fun day anyway though.

Because of the weather we took Xander and Trin to a McDonalds with an indoor playground.  We stayed there for about 3 hours and they had a blast.  I had a great time just sitting and talking with Dad and Joey.  After we ate lunch, we did head out to the airport and let the kids have a look at the airplanes for a while.

We called it a day around 3pm.  Dad, Joey and Trin headed back to North Carolina, and Xander and I headed home.  We had a fun time and hope we get to do something like it again in the future.

Out and About
by @ 10:16 pm.

We’re sitting in a hotel room in Warrenton, Va tonight. We is Xander, Joey, J-Pa, Trin, and me. Tomorrow morning we are going to watch the aerobatics competition they are having at the airport here. It’s just us guys. Xander has been very excited about this all week. We’re just here for the day tomorrow. We’ll head back to Leesburg tomorrow afternoon some time.

Kate and Mira went and had a girls night tonight, at least that’s what I hear. Mira called us at bedtime to tell us proudly that she had pink fingers and toes. I’m sure she’ll enjoy showing them off to us tomorrow night.

Lost Secrets
by @ 8:16 am.

Over the summer, ABC has been spooning out secrets about Lost. Apparently the spooning is over. Someone has posted the completed video on YouTube.

Wii launch date
by @ 7:57 pm.

Details for the Nintendo Wii launch have been released. November 19th for $250. It will include the game Wii Sports.

After the disapointment with all things PS3, I’m really looking forward to the inovation that is possible with the Wii. As games like Katamari Damacy and Chibi-Robo show, new and different is often good in the world of games.

First Day of School
by @ 8:37 pm.

Today was the first day of school.  Xander started 1st Grade, and Mira started her first year of preschool.  Kate and I were very nervous about Mira’s first day.  She did great though.  She was nervous in the morning when she got up and on the drive in.  When we got there though, so went right in the classroom with no problems and hugged her teachers and started settling in.

Xander was ready to get back to school.  We had to remind him to give us hugs before he headed into the classroom.

I took the day off from work so Kate and I could be stressed about the day together.  We had a nice lunch by ourselves and got some other chores done.

We went together to pick up the kids and both of them had had a great day.   I can’t say for sure how tomorrow is going to go, but at least things seemed to have started out well.

Last Day of Summer
by @ 9:50 pm.

Well, not really.  But the last day of Summer Vacation anyway.

This morning we headed off to Xander’s school.  His teacher needed help.  She’s setting up a new classroom.  All of her stuff came late, and she is rushing trying to get everything set up for her class.  We’d told her on Friday that if she needed help, to let us know.  So this morning she did and we went.  All four of us spent a couple of hours helping her get the classroom put together.  Xander and Mira loved it.

After that we went to lunch at Buffalo Wing Factory.

Then we headed home and watched the race from last night while Kate and I laminated and cut out more items for the classroom.  It wasn’t exactly the day we’d planned, but it was good day anyway.  The kids are in bed now and we are heading there soon.  First day of school tomorrow.

Meet the Teacher
by @ 8:26 pm.

Today was Meet the Teacher day at Xander’s school.  Or, rather, I should say Xander and Mira’s school.  That’s right, Mira is starting up school come Tuesday morning.  She’s going to be in Xander’s old class, which we think is a good choice for her.  Xander will be starting 1st grade on Tuesday as well.

So we were off to the school today to drop off some stuff for them to have at school and to say hello to the teachers.  They are both excited about school starting up.  Let’s hope that holds.
