Xander and I got in about 2 hours of Kingdom Hearts II tonight. It was a lot of fun. The start of the story isn’t anything like I expected. We’ve not played as Sora at all yet. It’s still been fun though, and the story is coming along. I’d hate to be playing it without having playing through Chain of Memories, though.
Ctr+Alt+Del pretty much sums it up. I should be picking up a copy today. I’ll start playing it tomorrow afternoon, since this will be a with Xander game and he’s only allowed to play on weekends.
We’ve been looking forward to it for quite a while now.
That’s the first time I’ve even seen a NASCAR race red flagged because of snow!
I’ve finally got a new gateway machine up, so things should get a bit snappier now. This is a 1Ghz AMD machine with 512GB of memory. It replaces the old 233 Mhz P2 with 92MB of memory.
Things should run a bit faster now.
Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a little adventure here today. I was in the front of the house doing something or other which I don’t remember and happened to look out the window and notice a lot of smoke. I walked out and found that the grassy area over near the park was on fire. Our neighbor from across the street was alread out and calling 911 on his cell phone.
I went back in the house and gathered up Kate and the kids and we all went back outside to watch. It was a lot of smoke and the wind was blowing right toward us. The fire department was there within a few minutes and got things put out quickly. There wasn’t any property damage, only the damage to the grass and reeds and such. Xander and Mira enjoyed watching the firefighters work, which was why we took them out there.
Our best guess is that a kid threw a cigarette that direction and that started the fire. It was exciting, but no real harm done. It did serve as a good lesson for the kids about why you have to be careful with fire.
Mira started drinking her milk out of a cup this week at meals.
I’d seen her drink out of a cup one other time, when we were at school for Xander’s birthday, she drank water out of a cup since all the others kids were using them.
This week, we started her using a cup as the normal way she eats. She has done a great job with it so far. There is, of course, a little bit of a mess involved with it once and a while, but overall she is doing a great job with it. Mostly what we are getting is dribbles when she turns the cup too far up.
We’re really proud of her and, more importantly, she’s very proud of herself.
We were watching Lingo tonight with the kids. Xander enjoys the game a lot, and it borders on educational for the kids, since they do a lot of spelling and such.
The players were working on a word and they had
O _ _ E R
up. Xander looked at it for a moment and said, “Offer,” and sure enough, he was right. That’s the first time he’s gotten a work on Lingo all by himself. We were all very excited for him.
I came across this today. It’s a Top 10 list from The Late Show with David Letterman from December 2nd, 1999. It was read by Dale Jarrett, who had recently won the Winston Cup at the time.
Mira did a wonderful job in her bed last night. She got up a few times to get a book , or put something on her shelves, but she went back to her bed at the end of it all and slept there nicely for most of the night. She did wake up a few times and need some attention, but she snuggled back down into her bed quickly each time.
She did a wondeful job again tonight going to bed. She seems to pretty much have the hang of it. We’re very proud of her.
We got Mira’s room all cleaned up today, took her crib apart and put it in the basement, and brought up th real bed frame for her crib mattress. In short, Mira got her big girl bed today.
She’s been excited about it for a while now. She started asking for one a week or so before Xander’s birthday party, but we just didn’t have the time to get her room in order so that we could do it. We finished up that process today before quiet time. She had a very short quiet time in her room, she was still adjusting to the new freedom and needed us to help her out with it.
She’s up there right now for bed though, and has done a great job of staying quietly in her bed while she waits to go to sleep.
It’ll be kind of a long night for us, I don’t expect to sleep very well. She’s able to open her door on her own, but we don’t want to have to put a gate on it. We’re hoping she’ll be able to follow our instructions overnight to stay in the room and just call us if she needs us, she does still have a baby monitor in there so we can hear her easily.
Hopefully all will go well tonight.
My little girl is growing up.
