I got myself an Xbox 360 today.
So, someone on Digg posted a link to a page at Best Buy where you can check the Xbox 360 inventory for stores in your area.
I was checking it last night and it said that the Best Buy in Manassas had some. I called them this morning, and they said they had they, but wouldn’t tell me how many. Kate convinced me to just have us go and try to get one. So 1/2 hour later, we were they and they still had 4 left. So I bought one. I was kinda in shock, since I was sure that they wouldn’t have one. I still haven’t gotten any games for it yet. I didn’t get those at Best Buy, since we’ve got a 10% off thing for Target that we can use, so I’ll pick some up from there tomorrow most likely.
It’s a very nice machine. I’ve gotten it hooked up, and I’ve played some of the Xbox Live Arcade games. I’m currently downloading a demo for a game I’m thinking of buying tomorrow. On top of that, while I was playing games on it this afternoon, I was able to listen to music off of my computer over the network. Very cool. They’ve really done a good job with it. I just hope mine isn’t one of the few that is having problems. It is working great so far though.
I’m excited about getting a few games for it tomorrow.
Merry Christmas to everyone!
We’ve had a wonderful morning. We got up around 7:30 this morning. We came downstairs and the kids enjoyed seeing what Santa had left them. Then we had some sausage biscuits for breakfast along with some of the sports candy (apples in this case) that Santa had left in our stockings.
After that we dove into the presents under the tree. Xander and Mira had a wondeful time with it, and we had a great time watching them. It’s all done now and I’ve gotten the biggest of Xander’s presents put together, a Playmobile tree house.
Mira got lots of outfits for her Dora doll, which she in enjoying also.
Kate and I also enjoyed our presents. We’ve had a wonderful morning just being together and giving to each other.
We hope all of you have had as good a day also.
1 more tree today, while I was out this moring Christmas shopping.
Ultima 5 Lazarus has been realeased. It’s a remake of Ultima 5 using the Dungeon Siege engine. I’ve not gotten it installed yet, but everything I’ve heard about it had been great. So you you like that kind of game (and own Dungeon Siege) it’ll be worth checking out.
I saw three trees on the way back from Clinton today, and Kate saw one today for a total of 4 trees today.
I’m back home now, safe and sound. First thing I did when I got home was hug the kids and the wife, then get the presents inside. Then the kids and I went out to play for a while (it’s a beautitul day today, 55° outside and very few clouds). It’s nice to be back home so I can play with them again.
It’s been a nice day here in Clinton. With the funeral over, it’s like a great weight is lifted. I understand why they have funerals. It gives you a breaking point in the grief. A place where you can say, “This is done now, I can start moving on.” Not that it is always as easy as that, but it certainly made a huge difference in how I was feeling.
All my siblings where here, as well as Britt, Brey, and McKena. We’ve had a nice time just being together. I really enjoyed having time to just sit with Dad and Joey and talk, something I do get much time to do most times when I’m here, because there are so many kids running around.
It’s been a really nice day, overall. But I’m still looking forward to getting back home tomorrow. As much as I’ve enjoyed the short break from parenting duties to see this part of my family, I miss my family.
Uncle Bobby’s funeral was this morning. It was a very nice service. I was doing fine until they were giving the flag to Mike, that’s when I lost it a little bit. I’d not even known Uncle Bobby had been in the Air Force before today. It was a nice service though. I was asked to be one of the pallbearers. Joey, Teddy, and Bobby’s grandchildren where the other pallbearers. It’s not something I’d ever done before. It was quite an honor.
I made it safely to Clinton. Got here around 2pm. The drive down wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be on my own. In some ways it was easier. This is when the iPod really pays for itself though. It would have been a much tougher drive without a nice selection of music to listen too on the way.
This was also my first solo drive since cell phones became the norm of my world. It was nice being able to keep tabs on Kate and the kids while I was on the road, and to be able to give them updates on my progress. I think that helped the drive also.
My Uncle Bobby passed away today. It was kind of sudden and unexpected. He hadn’t been in the best of health, but this was still a shock to everyone. I’ll be heading down to Clinton tomorrow morning for the funeral on Thursday. Kate and the kids are going to stay here, because the quick turn around this time will be a bit much for them, we think.
So there was some snow and ice yesterday. Officially we got around .2″ of ice. School was closed again today, since the roads still hadn’t recovered completely. There were lots of accidents during the morning commute, at least that’s what the morning news was saying.
I worked from home for the most of the morning. When things got better, we headed to Purcellville and picked up my car. It looks great. I’m very happy with the work Craftsman did.
