Tonight was the night!
I got home from work a little early today. Once I got home we headed outside and worked on carving our Jack-o-Lantern. We’d kind of put it off, and suddenly it was Halloween, so it needed to get done.
After that we got the kids some dinner. We had a few trick or treaters come by during dinner, which Xander and Mira loved. Then we got the kids into costume.
Xander was going as Jeff Gordon this year, and Mira as Dora the Explorer. They both looked great in their costumes. We hit all the houses on our street, which is really quite a haul for Mira, especially given that it’s still an hour later for her than the clock reads. They both did a great job though, and had a wondeful time.
They’d come back from a door, and Mira would say, “More houses?” It was very cute. Xander did a great job helping his sister out, I couldn’t have been more proud of him. They both came back with quite a haul.
We were off to another Halloween party today. This one was at My Gym which Mira attends on a regular basis. So Xander and Mira got to have a good time there having a free play, with a few planned activities. Maggie Moo’s even provided an ice cream cake. The kids had a lot of fun, which they always do at My Gym.
We had the Fall Festival at Xander’s school today. Mira and Xander both had a great time. They went happily from classroom to classroom doing the activities. After that, we went outside and enjoyed some of the snacks that people had brought. Xander’s favorite part of the evening was the big parade with all the students in their costumes around the school’s track. We all had a very good time.
I’m 33 years old today. I’ve had a nice day. The kids really loved celebrating my birthday with me, and I enjoyed having them do it.
Kate and I got to see Serenity tonight. It was amazing. I’m so sorry that show didn’t get to play out the way he had planned. The movie did a great job of giving a sense of closure to everything. We are looking forward to the DVD coming out so we can watch it over a few times to catch things we missed.
Kate and I used to drive by this stolen cow (it wasn’t stolen at the time, of course) on a regular basis when we lived in Chesapeake. Just kinda odd.
Haven’t really had much to say lately. Things have been going well for all of us.
Xander has been doing well is school. He starting working on multiplication this week. I had to blink several times when he told me this. I don’t remember doing that till 3rd grade. It’s amazing to me what the are able to teach him at this school.
Mira is talking more and more each day. Today Xander asked for a snack. Kate said, “OK,” and went off to get it and Mira responded, “Me too!” She also spends a lot of time asking who loves her these days. “Daddy loves me?” “Xander loves me?” “Mommy loves me?” “Baby (her doll) loves me?” It’s really very cute.
Things for Kate and me go along as normal. That’s pretty much it.
