I just got off the phone with my Dad. His father, Pa to us grandkids, passed away today.
We’re sad, of course, but at the same time, there is a feeling of relief. He’s not been in good health for a while, and at least now he is at peace.
I’ll miss him, and I’ll always cherish the memories I have of him.
Mira turned 2 years old today. I took the day off of work so we could celebrate.
We went to the mall this morning so the kids could play at the play area there, which they enjoy.
After that, we rode the merry-go-round at the mall. Then we had Chick-fil-a for lunch, and then rode the merry-go-round again.
We came home after that and the kids had quiet time.
After quiet time, we had cake and played some bean bag toss. Then Mira opened her presents. The rest of the evening was spent letting her play with them.
She seemed to have had a good day. I know Kate and I enjoyed it.
I can hardly believe that my little girl is 2 years old already.
I had a wondeful Father’s Day today. I got some nice presents from my family. We went out to eat at Subway, then had ice cream at Maggie Moo’s, and then had coffee at Caribou Coffee.
Then we came home and the kids had quiet time and I played some video games for a little while. Then they got up and we watched the race and worked on rolling our 10 year backlog of coins.
It may not sound like much, but it was a wondeful day for me.
I took Xander and Mira over to My Gym for a Free Play class today. Their normal class involves a lot of structured activities, but when they have Free Play (which is free if you are enrolled in another class) it just an hour of playing around the gym. We all had a wonderful time. There is lots of great stuff to do there. I think Xander enjoys the ball pit the most, and Mira enjoys whatever Xander is doing at the moment the most. They spent time hanging from the uneven bars, climbing ladders, climbing mats and climbing/jumping back down. Rolling and throwing balls. It was a really fun time for all of us.
Today was Xander’s last day of school for the year. I can hardly believe the school year has passed by so quickly. My little boy will be in Kindergarten in September. Wow.
Xander really did have a great year. We’re amazed by the progress he has made. I have to admit, that I wasn’t sure about sending him off to school when we first started, but he had thrived in the classroom. It really was the best thing we could have possibly done for him.
Mira peed on the potty again this morning. Only a few drops, it was once again right after she had peed in her diaper, but she is still making great progress much sooner than we expected.
Update: About 9:30am this morning, Mira wanted to go to the potty again, and this time, she covered the bottom. She’s making huge progress!
I mentioned back in April that Mira was showing interest in sitting on the potty. The interest has continued, three to seven times a week, so wants to go sit on the potty for a minute or two.
Tonight, as we were heading upstars for bed time, she pointed at the potty and wanted to go sit on it, so, as usual, we let her. The difference this time is that she actually peed in it! It wasn’t a whole lot, but it’s a huge step for her. We were all able to be very happy with her, to give her some positive reenforcement on the behavior. We’re all quite suprized and pleased.
Mira gave me a big surprize this morning.
Xander and I were getting ready to head out for the morning. He was over on the stairs getting his shoes on. I was kneeling on the floor in the hall putting some books in my bag.
Mira walks up behind me and throws her arms around me. She lays her head down on my back and gives me a big hug and says, clear as day, “I love you, Daddy.”
I turned around and gave her a big hug back and said, “I love you too, Mira.”
I was quite amazed and happy.
