As our 10th Anniversary quickly approaches, I can’t help but wonder how my life would be different if I’d not met Kate and gotten married. I don’t think my life would be as good as it is now. Kate has helped give me the courage to take many risks in my life that have gotten me where I am today. She’s also smart and beautiful and I just love spending time with her. On top of that she has given me two wonderful children who I love more than I could ever have imagined.
All that aside, howerver. I’m glad I’m married because it keeps me off the dating scene, which has now invented the Lady Wingman service. Dating scares me. Scared me then, and it would terrify me now. The fact that such services exist just verify to me that I’m not cut out for that life.
My ISP had some issues over the weekend, which I’m not too happy about, but that’s another issue.
Things seem to be working fine again as of this morning.
Point Pleasant has been officially pulled by Fox.
I do wish they’d at least let a show finish a season before they pull it. It’s like they try to punish the people who do bother to watch the stuff they come up with.
Good news: Fox is going to show the last 6 episodes of Tru Calling that they made before they cancelled it.
Bad News: They are pulling Point Pleasant to do it.
We can’t seem to win for losing with that network.
Spring is here!
It was a fun winter, but I’m about tired of the cold. I’m looking forward to some warmer weather.
Today I got promoted to Senior Systems Programmer.
As you can imagine, I’m very exicted about it. I’ve been working toward it for a long time now, and it really feels great to finally get there.
Over the last two weeks, Mira has gotten quite good at using a fork to eat. She loves doing it, mostly because she sees Xander doing it, I think. She’ll try to eat most anything with a fork now. This morning, for example, she was trying to figure out how to eat her biscuit with one.
Scholastic has released an image of the cover for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
The doctor says Mira has a case of Nursemaid’s Elbow. All and all, not that big a deal. As long as she doesn’t show any problems, we don’t really have to worry about it.
Everything I’ve read about it since Kate got home lines up perfectly with what I remember happening, so I’m convinced. One of my friends at work had even suggested this when I was telling the story Thursday morning.
So Kate gets a call from the urgent care center today saying that they’ve gotten the results from Mira’s x-rays and everything looks good, but there is one kind of fracture that they can’t rule out so we need to go to an orthopedist to get that checked out.
This, of course, came as quite a shock to us, since we thought on Wed that the x-rays has already been read. Apparently this was actually just the tech saying the x-rays looked good, i.e. they came out ok. *sigh* So now she has an appointment tomorrow afternoon with the orthopedist that Kate went to for her toe.
More info when we know more.
I forgot to mention it yesterday, but Xander was an amazing big brother to Mira yesterday. Kate had explained to him what was going on while they were on the way to the urgent care center. He was as perfect as you could as for with all the waiting around that he had to do. Kate and I were both very proud of the patience that he showed whlie his sister was getting most of the attention because she was hurt. He didn’t cause any problems sitting in waiting rooms and was doing everything he could to be helpful to all of us.
Let’s start out by saying that Mira’s left hand is fine. Now, on with the story.
I was home with Mira this morning while Kate was at the doctor. (I was also home sick form work, but I wasn’t so sick I couldn’t watch Mira, and I’m actualy feeling much better now but was a little gun shy about going back into work after yesterday.) She and I were playing on the floor. We were playing a game we often play where she stands behind me and puts her arms over my shoulders. I take her hands and rock forward with her. Usually this involves a lot of laughing on her part. This time all I got was a scream. This was about 12:30pm, I’m guessing.
We ended up with 3.8″ of snow according to the news. Kate measured abut 4″ outside our house, so that sounds about right.
I’m home sick. I started throwing up last night a bit after 5pm. I only threw up the once and went right to bed and mostly slept till morning. We had an all hands meeting at work today, so I got up and tried to go to that. I made it thought about 1 1/2 hours of it before I had to leave. I got home and promptly threw up again. So now I’m up in the bedroom in seclusion from the kids in the hopes they won’t catch what ever I have.
