The snow has been coming down pretty hard for a while now. Not too long ago it started sticking to the roads and sidewalk and such. Looks like we’ll get a good coating out of this. They are saying it’ll go on all day and into the night, so I’ll be curious to see how much we have in the morning.
It’s snowing again today. They are expecting 6 to 10 inches this time.
There isn’t going to be a B5 movie at this point after all. Pretty sad, and I’m sorry it’s not going to happen. It would have been nice to have something on at the movies I might think was worth watching.
At least we are still going to the get Firefly movie.
It snowed all day today, and it’s still going now. The temperature kept that much from sticking though. I’d say we have about 2″ sitting on the ground outside.
We all had a wondeful time playing outside this afternoon. Xander did a great job helping us shovel. Mira enjoyed helping as well.
Then all four of us had a good time having a snowball fight. Then it was back inside to have some popcorn to warm us back up.
I don’t think I’ve seen many things as wonderful as my two children sitting on the floor coloring together.
The two of them get along so well and love each other so much, it just amazes me.
We’re all home today.
I’m working from home and Xander is home from school.
We’re expecting at least 4″ of snow and as much as 8″. We’ll see how well they predicted it.
It updates the iPod I have to v2.3 and adds the Shuffle Songs into the Main Menu, a change I’d been hoping for.
It also adds support for iTunes 4.7.
Update: Not so useful after all, turns out it means shuffle all the songs on the iPod, not shuffle the current play list. Pretty much useless. *sigh*
Queen of Wands ends today. It’s a webcomic I came across at some point in the past and got addicted to. I’m sad to see it go, but it was a good run and I look forward to seeing what Aeire comes up with next.
So we went to Xander’s school this morning for his birthday celebration there. They do some pretty cool stuff.
His teacher had him come to the front of the class and sit with her. They talked about him turning 5 for a little bit. Then they put a small ’sun’ down on the floor. Xander then puts out the months of the year around the sun as ‘rays’. He then takes the globe in his hand and stands by February. He walks around the sun once while the class sings a little song about going around the sun. He stops when he gets to February. His teacher then asks him (and Kate and me) questions about that year of his life. They do that five times. Then they put a candle on the sun for Xander to blow out.
After that they took a look at the poster that Kate had made for him last night with some pictures from the last 5 years and he talked about them a little bit.
Then he got to hand out the pumpkin bread that Kate made for the class last night.
It was all very nice and we very much enjoyed getting to go see it.
Xander is 5 years old today. It just doesn’t seem possible that it’s been that long.
We had a nice day. We opened his presents in the morning. For lunch, he wanted to go to Big Bowl, then we headed to Toys R Us for him to pick out one last present. We had a pumpkin pie with dinner. We finished out the day making his hand and foot prints for us to keep.
I still can’t believe that much time has passed already.
NASCAR is back! What a great race. Even if two of my fantasy drivers blew engines. We all enjoyed watching the race, except Mira, who would have rather been watching Blue’s Clues.
Yea, race!
We had Xander’s robot themed birthday party today. It was a lot of fun. We had four of his friends over for the party.
The party started around 2pm. We started out decorating cookies. We had made some “gingerman shaped” sugar cookies to server as robots. The kids got frosting and a wide variety of different candies and colored gels to use to decorate them. Most of the kids gave up on artistic design pretty quickly.and just started putting lots of different candies on top of the frosting. We kinda felt bad sending them home with them, since we’d not intended to create such a large sugar bomb for the parents to deal with, but oh well.
Other games played were musical chairs, bean bag toss, pin the arms on the robot, and clothes pin drop. Xander was only really interested in the bean bag toss, but the other kids seemed to enjoy all the other games.
After the games, we had cake and ice cream, which everyone enjoyed. Then there was some free play time in the family room and then the kids headed home about 4pm.
This is just wrong. WB is “updating” the Looney Tunes characters. And by that, I mean making them into a team of futuristic super heroes. I can’t even begin to describe how wrong this seems to me.
Mira has been doing a good job working on her talking lately, but she really made my day with it today.
I’m home today. Kate and Mira were heading out to pick up Xander from school. I walked over to tell them bye. Kate says, “Say ‘Bye Bye, Daddy.’”. Mira responds, “Buh buh, Dada”. It really made my day.
We bought me a new car today!
My Saturn has been sick for quite a while. It’s had a broken head gasket for who knows how long, so we decided it was time to just get me something new. We decided on a Honda Civic. We started out looking for used ones, but they cost almost as much as new ones, so we decided to just go ahead and new a new one. So, today was the big day. We went out and drove one around for a bit, went over all the features and haggled out a price we could handle. We traded in the Saturn and now I’ve got a new car.
