Green-White-Checker
by @ 2:53 pm.

NASCAR has finally decided to implement the green-white-checker policy into the Busch and Cup Series races.

It’s about time. I’ve enjoyed that aspect of the truck races since I started watching them last year, and the fans deserve to see a race finish with racing.

I’m not sure how I feel about doing it in the middle of the seaon, but I can live with it. It’s something I think they’ve needed for a while.

Mira Walking
by @ 2:50 pm.

Mira started walking for real this week. Wednesday afternoon, to be precise. She’s now able to start walking, stop and then start again most of the way across the family room.

Xander is elated. I suspect they’ll be chasing each other around the house any day now.

Alcohol Free Seats
by @ 4:04 pm.

I’m very proud of Richmond International Raceway for providing a section of alcohol free seating at their track.

That makes it a lot easier for me to consider taking Xander to a race there.

You’ve Got Strep
by @ 12:48 pm.

That’s what the doctor thinks anyway. The quick test came back negative, but he wasn’t convinced. He said the list of symptoms that I gave sounded like strep, so he’s doing the long test and has me on antibiotics at least till the test comes back.

He said I should be fine for work tomorrow since I’m on antibiotics now, so it’s just a matter of fighting through the blech feeling.

Feeling Rough
by @ 6:28 pm.

My earlier comment about feeling better may have been a bit too soon.

As the day as gone on, I’ve found myself feeling worse again.

I dunno if I’ll make work tomorrow or not at this point. I might actually go to the doctor instead.

Fourth of July
by @ 12:56 pm.

Well, I was sick for the 4th this year, so we didn’t really do much. We had planned to be at the beach for it, but that didn’t work out since Mira got sick on the road. Worked out for the best though, since I got sick once we were home.

Last night was a lot of fun though. We have a great view of the fireworks show Leesburg puts on at Ida Lee every year from the window in Mira’s bedroom.

So about 9pm last night we got set up in there to watch the show. It started right on time at 9:30. Xander loved it. Mira objected to having all these people in her room in the middle of the night. It was a beautiful display.

As we were watching it, Xander mentioned that he remembered doing the same thing with Nannie and J-Pa last year. He also said he wished they were here this year as well. He’s an amazing little guy.

After that it was back to bed for everyone.

Even though I was sick, I did have a good day.

Vacation Summary
by @ 12:49 pm.

We had a nice trip out to Kate’s parents after Dene’s wedding. Xander loved getting to see them. We also had a mini-party for Mira when we got there. She got some nice toys to play with.

Kate and I also got a good dose of Sonic since they have one in Sylva.

Thursday morning around 1am, Mira woke us up screaming. She had a temp around 102°.

We decided to wait it out and see how she did on the way to Clinton to decide what to do. When we got up, the fever was down to normal, but she was still on the Motrin we’d given her overnight. So we packed up and headed toward Clinton. We took her temp again at the first stop, and it was back up around 101°. So we made the hard decision and headed for home instead.

It was a good thing we did though. Saturday, I developed a fever of 101.5°. I was pretty much useless for most of Saturday and Sunday.

I’m feeling much better today though, so I think I’m pretty much over it.

Kate took Mira to the doctor on Friday, and she has an ear infection, so she is on medication for that now. So we made the right decision on that front as well.

Back Home
by @ 9:01 pm.

We’re back home. Mira start running a fever of around 102°, so we cut the vacation short. We’re gonna try to get her to the doctor tomorrow. More details after I’ve gotten some rest.
