This is why I hate news headlines. The first sentence of the story contridicts the headline.
Headline: “Woman ticketed for appearing naked on Internet”
First Sentence: “It wasn’t the fact that Melissa J. Harrington appeared naked on the Internet that got her in trouble with police.”
So which is it?
Xander’s still a sick little boy. I spoke too soon yesterday it appears. In the afternoon his temp started back up and ended up around 103° for a little while again. Once again, it’s down below 100° this morning, but I’m not putting as much stock in that today.
Xander is doing better today. He’s still sick, but not nearly as sick as he was yesterday. Yesterday was the first time I can think of that he spent the entire day in his room except for going to the bathroom and getting a bath to help bring the fever down.
His fever broke overnight and is staying below 100 so far today and he’s up and around and playing.
I’m exausted from all the rounds of overnight medicine interupting my sleep, but I’ll get over that.
Our best guess as of this morning is that Xander has the flu.
He woke up with a fever of 102° It’s been as high as 103°, but we’ve managed to bring that back down. It’s drifting between 101 and 102 now. He’s been up in his room most of the day sleeping.
Merry Christmas again!
We had a wonderful day today.
Xander got us up around 6:30am. He came into our bedroom for a bit while Kate fed Mira. Then we went downstairs and did all the Christmas morning present stuff. Xander had a great time with it. Mira even helped open a few of her presents a little bit. Xander seemed to enjoy all of his presents. I know I enjoyed all of mine.
Most importantly, it looks like Xander understood some of the giving is part of the fun thing. He enjoyed seeing us open the presents he’d picked out, and he beamed when we opened the present he’d made us at school.
It was a wonderful Christmas for all of us. Now I’m gonna go get some rest since I can actually stop playing board games for a while now that he’s asleep.
Merry Christmas to everyone!
The tree finally got put up this past weekend. All the presents are wrapped and under it. All the presents we sent via mail/UPS/etc made it where they needed to on time. Xander loves watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas. All is right with the world.
I saw the third Lord of the Rings movie today. It was excellent, as expected. The only problem I had with it was that the ending was a bit drawn out. The rest of the movie was excellent though. The battles were amazing. Once again, things were very close to the book, but there are a number of changes, some of which I like, some of which I don’t.
I found this on Slashdot.
Things not to do while watching The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
I’m off to see it tomorrow morning, as a work function no less. I love my job.
4″ of wet nasty hard to shovel snow yesterday. Xander still enjoyed it though.
It appears that Virginia had a small earthquake today. No big deal for us. A few of the people at work felt the floor shake a little bit while it was happening, but that was about it.
Johnny Sauter is going to be driving the AOL car next year. He’ll be getting the same crew chief that helped Harvick win his rookie of the year award in 2001. Hopefully things will come together next year for the 30 car!
I just finished reading The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.
This is easily one of the best books I’ve ever read. I can’t even imagine the amount of work that goes into writing a book like this.
I can’t even really talk about it for fear of giving something away. It’s a great mystery full of wonderful puzzles. Unlike a lot of books I’ve read of late, the ending is wonderful and satisfying.
I almost didn’t read it because so many people have said what a great book it is, and I usually fear that a book like that is just mass market trash. This isn’t though, it’s just amazing.
Penny Arcade is doing a good thing. They’ve already rasied over $64,000 in toys, games, books and whatnots for the Seattle Children’s Hospital.
