Manged to get some napping in this afternoon. Still feel pretty rotten. Off Advil my temp was up to 99.6. It’s back down to 99.1 at the moment now that the Advil is back in my system. I fear it will be a long weekend.
I did pick up Tron 2.0 while we were out today, but as a testimate to my illness, I’ve only played through the tutorial. It does look to be as good as I had hoped though.
So I’m sick today. I’d swear I had the flu if I had more that 1/2 a degree to a degree of fever. I’m taking the day off from work to try and get well.
I did manage the energy for a quick trip to Xander’s school to meet his teacher and find out which classroom he will be in. She seemed quite nice. Xander is very excited about getting to school on Tuesday, I hope the excitement lasts till he actually there.
Matrix Pong is what I’ve called this. I don’t know what the official title is, but it’s one of the neatest things I’ve seen in a while.
Well, we finally made it back home. It was a long trip, but it was worth it. Everything is in from the car, it’ll take a bit to actually unpack though. Xander and Mira were both wonderful for the drive. I don’t know how we lucked into such wonderful children.
Anyway, we’re home again. Now we can start resting up from the vacation.
Another big day for us today. Xander was feeling much better today (though his face is still a little puffy). We went to go see Nanaw and Pa this afternoon, which went very well. Nanaw was in pretty good shape today and even called Xander by name a few times. Then it was off to the airport. JPa showed Xander the airplane he flies. Xander got to help him fuel it. Then while it was fueling JPa took him inside and let him sit in the cockpit and “fly” the plane a little bit. It was quite exciting for him. After we go home from that JPa took Xander for a ride on the tractor. That was very exciting for him, as well.
Xander had a serious allergic reaction to something tonight. We don’t know what it was, but it was pretty major. His face swelled up pretty badly. His left eye looked like he’d been punched. We gave him some benedryl and it seemed to help some. He feel asleep on me watching the race. Hopefully he’ll be doing better in the morning. We still don’t have any idea what caused it. It looked a lot like what happened to him when were went to see Dene graduate.
We’re back in Clinton again today. We had a wonderful time at the beach. Joey, Cheryl and their kids made it out to the beach on Thursday night to visit with us. Cheryl and most of the kids made it back out again Friday. Xander had a great time playing with them.
Xander also had a great time playing in the water with JPa and me Friday evening. He’d also had fun playing with JPa and Nannie while Kate and I were out having dinner Thursday night. Friday morning he took a little coaxing to go out. But Friday evening he was gung-ho to go play. I suspect this is because he knew that JPa and Kelly-dog were out there already.
We left around noon to come back to Clinton for a little more visiting time for Xander before we head back home on Monday.
Kate and I got to go out for dinner by ourselves tonight. We went to a nice little place in Topsail Beach called Lattitude 34. It was a very yummy meal.
For appetizers we had some seared rare tuna and some calamari. For our entrees we both had their Atlantic Salmon. It was cooked in a miso orange glaze and then topped with mango kiwi salsa which was just wonderful. For desert I had a butterscotch crem brule and Kate had a tofee peach cherry crostata.
It was a very nice meal, and it was quite nice to have some time to ourselves.
Well, we made it to Clinton today. We decided all of a sudden (i.e. Sunday) to go on vacation. We decided to go next week. Then we found out my dad was going to be out of town all next week, so worked things out at work so that we could leave this week. Kate and I spent yesterday getting things in order at home so that we could be gone for a week. We spent from 10:30am today to around 5:30pm on the road, with a hour and a half break for lunch in Colonial Heights, Va at our favorite Arby’s
It’s great to be here, but we aren’t done yet. We’re off to the beach tomorrow, which is where we’ve wanted to be all summer anyway.
Kate and I had lunch today at The Buffalo Wing Factory. It was a near religious experience. It just so happens that the Tuesday special is a 25 wing sampler, 5 of 5 different styles.
We had
That’s in the rough order of my preference for them. All of them were yummy to some extent. The Spicy Crab was covered in Old Bay though, and I think almost anything tastes better that way.
One of the best things about the place is that even though it’s essentially a sports bar, the whole place is non-smoking. And they show the race on Sunday as well. So we might just have to make an trip out there one weekend with Xander. We’re pretty sure he’ll love it.
NOAA has some pictures up of the Northeast US before and after the blackout that occured on Thursday.
In other blackout news, we had ourselves a minor one today. The lights were out from aroud 2:30pm to around 4:00pm. Dominion Power has a cool system though. You call them and give the computer your phone number and it checks it’s records. It told me there was a major power outage in the area and gave me an estimated fix time of 6:30pm. After power was restored, an automated message called me back to check and see if the power was actually back on for us. Pretty neat overall, I must say.
I’m pretty excited about Underworld. It’s based on the White Wolf World of Darkness. It’s about the war between the vampires and the werewolves, and it looks great.
