Mira smiled today. Just twice, but it was clearly a smile. Her eyes lit up and everything. I started blowing just over the top of her head like I used to do with Xander and she showed me a big grin and her eyes got all big. I called Kate over and did it again, and she smilled again. That appeared to be the end of the ammusment value though. No more smiles after then.
Long time no update.
Mira is doing very well. As of the 15th she was up to 9lbs (after dropping to 7.8lbs, which is normal). Her head is 14 1/2″ now and she’s about 20″ long, so she’s thriving nicely. The doctor declared her color good. For a while we had to set an alarm every few hours during the night to wake her up and feed her, but the doctor says we can stop doing that now. She’s been waking us up on her own pretty well the last few days anyway.
Xander has been doing great with the new little sister. He takes his job as big brother very seriously. He loves holding her. Whenever she starts crying he’ll say “It’s OK Mira, I’ll be right there.” He’s also done a good job handling our attention being split between the two of them. I’ve very proud of him.
In non-child related news. I’ve ordered an XBox. I know, it’s hard to believe, but they finally got me. The got me with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It’s a Star Wars RPG by BioWare set 4000 years before the movies and it looks to be amazing. The game arrived today. I’ll get the XBox tomorrow. (Different free shipping deals.) I also picked up Splinter Cell for the XBox which, from what I hear, is the best place to play it anyway.
We got home for the hospital just after midnight this morning. It was a whole we didn’t really like the baby doctors at the hospital thing. Mira is a bit jaunticed. They seemed to think it was very serious, but at the same time didn’t seem to treat it like it was. That’s the short version. We took her to our doctor today and we’ll know how things are going when the test results come back in the morning.
Xander is just wonderful with Mira. He loves holding her and looking at her. He also enjoys telling her about his cars.
