That was quite a few days.
My mom and dad came up on Monday to help us get ready for the baby. I ended up taking today off as well to get even more done. We got my office completely cleaned out and painted, so it’s just about ready to be the baby’s room now. We also got the curtains hung in Xander’s room, and I feel good about getting the ones in the baby’s room done on my own now once they are here. We also finally got my lawn mowed and edged, I’m sure my neighbors are much happier now.
Cleaning out my office was quite a project. I’d never really gotten it unpacked from when we’d moved in 3 years ago. And I’d only added more junk and clutter since then. We got it done though. It’s kinda strange to not have an office for the moment. Kate’s office is going to become mine and her’s is going to move downstairs to help with her Creative Memories habit. Eventually that’ll all happen anyway.
I finally bought a copy of Zelda: Wind Waker this weekend. It’s quite nice. It’s a Zelda game, no doubt. And the graphics are actually quite nice. I was worried about the cell shading, but they’ve used it well.
The Buffy and 24 finales were pretty good. 24 felt a little like a let down. The previous few episodes had been a lot more fast paced. Things seem to slow down too much in the last hour. They clearly knew they were going to have another season before they got to the end though. Buffy was a pretty good ending to the series. It felt a little rushed though. And I don’t understand how all of a sudden the non-slayers were able to take on the uber-vamps. (I mean Xander/Giles/Anya/etc.) Seems a little out of nowhere to me. Over all it was a good end to the series, but I though the season 5 finale was a better ending.
Went with Kate to see The Matrix Reloaded again. I think it’s an even better movie the second time around. That’s not to say I think it is perfect. Many of the fight scenes feel like they were put in just to look cool, they don’t really add anything to the movie. Some of the effects are kind of lacking also. But over all I thought it was a great movie. My mind is awash in ideas of what’s going to happen and what what has already happened means.
Also picked up Enter The Matrix for the Game Cube this weekend. I’ve not played very much of it yet due to time constraints, but what I’ve played so far I’ve enjoyed it. There looks to be lots of good cruncy plot bits in it and the game play has been quite fun so far.
Tonight is the series finale for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the season finale for 24. So it’s gonna be quite an exciting night.
Have you seen The Matrix Reloaded yet? If you haven’t, then you should. It was a great movie! It’s not the same thing as the first one. But it’s a good movie in it’s own right. The action was, of course, amazing. The story is also great. I’ve had lots of people who said it didn’t have very much plot. I’m not sure what movie they were watching. Maybe they slept through the parts that didn’t have any fighting going on.
Now I need to get ahold of Enter the Matrix to play and The Animatrix to watch.
Angel has been renewed for next season. That’s good.
John Doe was canceled. That’s bad.
We’re back from Columbia now.
We were down there to see my sister get her MSW from the University of South Carolina. We are all very proud of her!
We had a great time seeing everyone as well. Xander was great for the whole trip. He had some bad allergy problem on Saturday night, so we didn’t really get to spend much time at the ballgame like we’d planned, but (as Xander says these days), “that happens sometimes.” It was a great little stadium though. Xander seemed to enjoy it other than the fact that he was feeling so bad from the allergies.
Richard Childress fired Jeff Green on Monday. I’m still a bit in shock over the whole thing. My biggest worry about the whole thing was how Xander was going to take it. He wasn’t happy about someone else driving the AOL car. Kate pointed out to him that he’d have to drivers to pull for now though. Jeff Green and who ever drives the AOL car. So it looks like everything will work out OK. Luckly Jeff got picked up by DEI to drive the 1 car, which is one of Xander’s favorite cars at the moment. So Steve Park isn’t driving the 1 car anymore and the rumors are that he’ll be in the 30 car for the Winston. What a mess.
