Whew, what a week it’s been. Roughly 1,500 miles in 8 days. First we were off to Slyva, NC to visit Kate’s parents for a few days. Then it was off to Clinton, NC to visit my family for Thanksgiving. It was very tiring, but it was also a blast.
The highlight for me was at my parent’s house watching everyone (there were around 10 people there) play with Xander. He loved all the attention and seems to have had a great time. Friday night we went to see the Meadow Lights (which I really wish I had a link for). Xander just loved it. We can hardly wait for next year when he’ll be able to enjoy it even more.
As much fun as we had, it’s always good to get back home. We’re rested up a little bit more now. Kate’s Mom is going to be up to visit us later this week.
Did I mention that I have Metal Gear Solid 2 now? It is a great game! I’m having a hard time getting to bed at night.
Just got back from seeing the new Harry Potter movie. Wow! It was great. Now if it would just hurry up and come out on DVD.
So I’m running a little behind here. Let’s try to catch up.
Xander:
He’s doing well on drinking his PediaSure now. It was tough for the first few days but he’s taken to it well. He’s spit it all back up a few times. Kate took him to the doctor on Wednesday to get him checked out about that. The doctor said it’s most likely from him drinking too fast. So now we are making sure he’s sitting up while we give it to him and helping him take it a little slower.
Other than that he’s doing great. He’s picking up more signs now. Let’s see, he knows:
Those get him through most of his day at this point. He also does the signs in the Blue’s Clues song.
On the gaming front. I finished Paper Mario over the weekend. I’m hoping to pick up Metal Gear Solid 2 this afternoon and get a bit of playing in tonight. We’ll see if I can find it anywhere.
We took Xander to see a GI specialist today. He’s not been gaining weight for the last couple months. He’s been gaining height just fine. The doctor says it looks like he’s not getting enough protein in his diet, so we are working on that now. We have another apointment in a month to get him checked again to see how it’s going. Hopefully the change in diet will be enough to get him on the right track again.
Virginia has elections today. Here is a good place to find results once they are in.
We took Xander to the doctor today after writing down everything he’s eaten in the last three days. He’s not been gaining weight the last few months, so we are getting it checked into. We are being reffered to a GI specalist. That’s not because they think there is a problem, but because she knows this is a good doctor who will make sure nothing is wrong. So we are trying to get an appointment for this before we go off for the week of Thanksgiving to visit family. The one thing that the doctor did notcie was that the amount of protein in is diet is low. So we are going to start working on that today.
Xander sure is a trooper. Last night we put him down and he crys for 5 minutes, and then he lays down on his bed and goes to sleep. Again, he wakes up around 5:30am. We go in and change his diaper, and he crys a little when we leave, but within a few minutes he’s asleep again. Kate and I both feel so much better now, I can hardly put it into words.
Well, Kate and I buckled down last night and made Xander get himself to sleep in his room. It only took 45 minutes, which was much better than what we feared would happen after the 2 1/2 hour episode from last weekend. He woke again once around 5:00am. We went in and changed his diaper then. He cryed for 5 minutes or so and then went back to sleep. Kate and I were so proud. Hopefully (knock on wood), tonight we be even easier.
In gaming news…
I picked up Civ3 on Tuesday. Finally got to play last night. It’s strange to play. It’s so similar to Civ2 and Alpha Centauri, that it’s deja vu like. It’s very different in many respects though, and so far I’m happy with the differences. I’ve not run across anything yet that think isn’t an improvement from the previous games.
