Xander did go to sleep for us around 9pm. So we put him in his new bed. (Actually the same mattress, but it’s on the floor now). He sleep until roughly 1am. Then he was up and screaming. We gave him a few minutes to no avail. Then it was into the bed with us. We decided yesterday to try to get him to the doctor today since this is all the kind of thing he does when he’s sick. The grumpyness that is.
So Kate took Xander to the doctor and she says that he might have a virus. I.e. she can’t find anything actually wrong with him, but he does seem to be out of sorts. So Kate and I are gonna keep going with the give him some time routine. We are gonna put him in his room every time he goes to sleep, but we aren’t going to have any 2 hour battles over it either. He can just sleep with us some if he wants for now.
Oh, btw. Civ3 is susposed to be released tomorrow. Woo hoo!
Wow, that was a fun night. Xander has decided he doesn’t like his crib. We’d rock him to sleep, and then put him in his crib. Then a few minutes later he would wake up screaming. After 2 1/2 hours of this game, we decided to just let him sleep in the bed with us rather than none of us sleeping.
So this morning, we put him in his crib for a little while and he starts screaming. We decide to let him work it out. A little later I hear a big thump on his door. I decide to run upstairs and have a little talk with my boy about throwing things. I open the door to his room to find him standing there banging on the door. Oh, fun! So now his mattress is on the floor and his room has been redone to make it safe for him to be in alone. We’ll see how well things go tonight, but Kate and I suspect he’ll end up in the bed with us again.
Wow! I’m 29 years old today. Only one year of my 20’s left.
Had a wonderful birthday, which by my standards means I didn’t have to leave the house.
If you haven’t watched the trailer for Metal Gear Solid 2: The Sons of Liberty, I highly recommend it. Is it the middle of November yet?
Just found out that my brother and his wife are going to have another baby! Kate and I are so excited and happy we can hardly stand it. Given all that’s gone on in the last year, it’ll be wonderful to have another life coming into the family.
So I didn’t end up going to my 10 year class reunion after all. Kate and I decided we really just weren’t in the mood for it. So we called Tracy, who was in the same mood we were, so he just came up here to see us instead. Kate and I had a good time, Xander delt much better than he would have with the trip, and it certainly appeared that Tracy had a good time as well. We also got to do a lot more sitting than we would have at the reunion, which we are all fond of.
Xander appears to have mastered the use of the word “go” now. One of his favorite games is to run around the island with the stove on it in the kitchen with Kate or myself (chasing|being chased by) him. So last week, he starting saying the word “go” whenever he heard us say it, so I decided to put it to use. Now when we are running around, I’ll sometimes stop and wait for him to catch up with me. In order to get me to run again, Xander has to say “go”. The first 2 or 3 times, of course, I had to coach him on it. Now though, he seems to have the procedure pretty well in hand. He’ll start saying “go” before he even gets to me now once he sees I’ve stopped. Kate and I are, of course, quite proud.
Xander has also started saying “uh-oh”. Not for any particular reason, he just seems to like the sound of it. Some times he’ll only get out the “uh” and not finish because he’s laughing too hard.
Came across this User Friendly today. I think it pretty much sums things up.
I was really looking forward to Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor. That is until I read this review over at The 3rd Edition. Looks like UBI Soft didn’t do such a great job changing the game from 2nd edition to 3rd edition D&D rules, so we end up with an odd mismash of the rules. Also, it appears that you can’t really select a path for your character. You can choose classes, but skill points and feats are automatically assigned. Pretty sad really. I was all excited about this game.
Took a vacation day yesterday to hang out with the family and work on the new computer. Called up tech support and they ended up having me reinstall Windows ME. That does seem to have made a big difference though. I then played Max Payne for an hour and a half without any crashes. I’m still getting some little crashes here and there from various programs, but I’m patching things up as I go now. I’m going to install more games on it this weekend to see if they do ok as well. If it all goes well, I’ll declare myself happy with my new computer.
Well, the new computer has been a real let down so far. I’m having lots of problems with things crashing and lots of VXD VMM errors. I’ve got a few leads on things to take care of it though, so we’ll see what happens. I’ve still got a week or two to decide if I want to send it back or not and only be out the shipping charges.
On the up side of the computer front, it will run Unreal Tournament in 1024×768 at 80 to 100 frames per second, which can only be considered wonderful. Max Payne also looks beautiful on it. That’s all I’ve really played on it so far. I’m waiting to get the crashing issues worked out before I push on any farther with it.
